Volunteer Gliding School (VGSs) are Royal Air Force flying training units, operating military Viking T Mk1 (conventional) and Vigilant T Mk1 (Grob Vigilant) (motor) gliders to train Air Cadets from the Combined Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps.

The VGSs operate under the administration of the Air Cadet Organisation, but come under the Royal Air Force Training Group of the Headquarters Personnel and Training Command. VGSs are made up of volunteer staff, each unit's executive are commissioned into the Training Branch of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and its Instructors comprise a mixture of the regular RAF/RN/Army, Reservists, Honorary Civilians and Flight Staff Cadets.

The collective 28 VGSs along with the Air Cadet Central Gliding School form the largest gliding organisation in the world. While the VGSs are administered by Headquarters Air Cadets, they are part of the Elementary Flying Training Units of Royal Air Force Training Group under the Headquarters Personnel and Training Command and are standardised accordingly by the Royal Air Force Central Flying School.
