Scottish Aviation Bulldog
From Air Cadet Central Wiki
The Bulldog was a 2-seat side-by-side training aircraft manufactured initially by Beagle Aircraft Company and later by Scottish Aviation when it was taken over.
The Bulldog first flew on 19 May 1969. It was used extensively by the Royal Air Force as a basic trainer, in particular being the standard aircraft of the University Air Squadrons for many years.
Towards the end of their life they had very high airframe hours, as such a number of cadets (myself included) weren't allowed to do aero's in them. Gutted.
The RAF sold off all of its remaining Bulldog trainers in 2001 as general aviation light aircraft for a very low price. The model's excellent visibility, robustness and aerobatic capability meant that they were enthusiastically taken up.
The Bulldog was replaced by the Slingsby Firefly & Grob Tutor in RAF Service.
